Fernworks

Fernworks captures tiny slices of wonder—minuscule mosses, real feathers, glints of gemstone, and sometimes even the delicate architecture of bones—suspended in polished resin like a memory you can wear. Each piece is painted by hand (sometimes even with a toothpick), then layered and cast into dreamy 3D dioramas that feel part woodland relic, part wearable magic. After 25+ years of working with resin and building a full-time art practice in Asheville, Fernworks has turned collecting and crafting into a spellbinding art form.

Inspired by the wild corners of Appalachia and the artist’s own roots on a North Carolina farm, Fernworks is a love letter to the natural world: to bird nests, bone fragments, dirt clods, and the odd magic of found things. Every piece channels a lifetime of scavenging, sculpture training, and globe-wandering curiosity.
