About Us

Harold & Hazel is a small, family-owned business, dedicated to finding and curating the most beautiful handmade jewelry from all over the world - including, and especially, right here in the United States.

We seek to find jewelry artisans and designers who practice fair trade and sustainability, and make a special effort to find those who come from under-represented groups.

We choose every item we sell, inspect it as it arrives, and provide customer service before and after the sale. We take every photo, so what you see on this website is exactly what you receive. Even our kids help out on occasion. When you buy from us, it's our hands who pack and seal your boxes.

Thanks for stopping by. We're very glad you're here.

Our Values

What are our values? Our values as a store are the same as our values in our lives.

We are honest

We are honest with our customers and our suppliers. If we make a mistake, we own up to it. We are truthful in our product descriptions and our product images.

We are a small business and while we wish we could afford professional models and high-end photographers, we're not there yet, and we don't steal images. So we do, on occasion, use AI to generate images of product models. However, we never use anything other than genuine, accurate photos of our products. If we adjust the images we take, it is only to make them look exactly like the item does in real life. This is my photographer-slash-husband comparing a pair of earrings with the image he took in his photo studio, and ensuring that the colors match exactly.

We honor our small makers

We do not rebrand the items from our small makers. We keep their names on the things that they make, because they deserve that recognition as the artists they are. The items we sell under the Harold & Hazel name are done so with the permission of the artisans who made them.

We value all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity

Jewelry is for everyone! It doesn't have a race, or a gender, or a sexual orientation. If you see something that would make you smile at yourself when you catch it in the mirror, then it's for you, and we'd be honored to facilitate that moment of seeing your own beauty.

And honestly if a drag queen wore one of our items, we'd probably die of joy.

Meet the family

Hi. I'm Amanda. And I love jewelry.

I've always been one to make a beeline for the jewelry at craft fairs, even when I was just a little girl. If I had allowance in my pocket to spend, at least half the time, it went for a pretty piece of jewelry before I even looked at anything else.

That’s where Harold & Hazel came from. There's only so much jewelry one woman can wear, so now I search for you, finding the best small makers creating the most striking and beautiful pieces, and bring them together, all in one place. I look for jewelry designers who are using color and pattern and technique to create truly standout pieces. And I really love artisans making jewelry out of innovative materials - bowling ball earrings, anyone?

This is Daniel

He's my sweet husband of almost 23 years. He's not as much of a jewelry lover as me - the only jewelry he wears is his wedding ring - but he really likes photography. So when I started Harold & Hazel, I recruited him to be my product photographer. I think he likes it. He's built out quite a nice setup down here in our basement. He's also an excellent postal service courier, large box carrier, and surprisingly patient with listening to me ramble about this website.

and these two furballs are Harold & Hazel

Yep, they're our dogs. Two out of our three dogs anyway. Harold is an Alaskan Klee Kai, barely a year old, and still very much a puppy. Hazel is a nine-year-old black Lab mix and, like me, another middle-aged woman who really is kind of over, well, everything, just doesn't want to deal with Harold's nonsense. But Harold is sure that if he's persistent, he'll win her over.
