Ammolite Dragon Skin Teardrop Necklace

Sale price$200.00

On a recent trip to Utah, I came across a pendant in a shop in Park City. The stone shone with the colors of the rainbow with the most remarkable depth, like a intense rainbow opal. I left the shop without buying the necklace, but I couldn't stop thinking about it - so I turned around, went back, and bought it.

This stone, I came to learn, is known as ammolite. It began as the nacre layer - like mother of pearl - in the shells of ammonites that lived over 70 million years ago in an ancient sea that is now Alberta, Canada. Over millions of years, the ammonite shells were fossilized by a blend of minerals that led to the brilliant reds, greens, golds, and even blues and purples of ammolite gems.

The largest miner of ammolite in the world is an indigenous- and woman-owned company called KORITE. The mine - barely the size of two football fields - is found on Indigenous lands, and it is mined with the highest of ethical standards, with a deep commitment to fully restoring an area once it has been mined of the gem.

I was so impressed both by the stone itself and the company that I had to bring it to you. Every piece of jewelry is guaranteed for life by KORITE against defects in material or workmanship. Each ammolite item you see is unique, and the photo is the actual item you will receive. Yes, this means I have only one of each item you see listed here, so if a piece speaks to you, it is the only one! You will receive precisely the jewelry you select - no surprises.

All our ammolite pieces are set in pure .925 sterling silver. You will receive your necklace in a KORITE velvet gift bag, with a card containing the details about your guarantee. This necklace is made from a large teardrop ammolite stone with a dragon skin texture. Dragon skin ammolite has a unique pattern that, when combined with the colors and refraction of ammolite, really does resemble what dragon skin might look like. There are also matching earrings available!
