Fordite Earrings
RECYCLE ALL THE THINGS... even the paint! Detroit agate, motor agate, or Fordite - whatever name you want to give this amazing substance - it's a terrific tale of human ability to see beauty in something that was considered a nuisance. If you haven't heard of fordite, it's made from the layers of automotive paint that would build up in car spray rooms. To keep the equipment smoothly functioning, the paint overspray would need to be periodically chipped off. Some creative soul noticed the pattern of layers of paint had incredible beauty, and took a chunk of it and cut and smoothed it as if it were a semiprecious gemstone. Fordite was born.
These unique earrings are made from genuine Fordite - hardened automotive paint cut and polished just like an agate. As such, each one is entirely unique. Our current collection is made from shades of red, white, blue, black, and gray. Car aficionados will love them!
Our handmade earrings are made in the USA in Washington State, Each earring hangs on a hypoallergenic stainless steel ear wire. They are extremely lightweight and, being automotive paint, very durable and completely weatherproof! Handmade in Washington State

- All items are kept in stock and ship from our warehouse in North Carolina.
- We personally inspect every single item we sell, pack it by hand, and deliver the boxes to the post office.
- Orders received by 3pm Eastern time on days the USPS is open generally ship same day. Orders received later will ship the following business day.
- We ship primarily via US Mail, but may use other carriers depending on package value and destination.
