Kandinsky Color Fields Earrings

Sale price$42.00

In 1913, Vasily Kandinsky is credited with creating one of the first abstract works of art with his color study, squares with concentric circles. This painting is a forerunner of the color field school of painting where color is freed from realism and becomes the subject in itself. Kenneth Noland, Barnett Newman, and Mark Rothko were considered its chief proponents.

This design was inspired by the square in the lower left corner of this Kandinsky study. They're made from three layers of solid brass plated with non-tarnishing silver, each with a different color printed directly on the metal, which combine to create the color study Kandinsky created but also move and slide past one another as the wearer turns her head. They are hypoallergenic and nickel-free, and come gift boxed with a provenance card.
