Polished Pyrite Earrings

Did you know that North Carolina was the site of the first gold rush in the United States? In 1799, a boy found a 17-pound gold nugget. A few years later, after spending some time as a doorstop in his parents' house, the nugget was sold to a jeweler... once news got out, the gold rush began. When I was in elementary school, we learned about this story, and my teacher brought a small nugget of pyrite - Fool's Gold - for each of us kids. When I saw these handmade pyrite earrings, I had to stock them. Pyrite made a nearly 200 year old history come alive, so why not wear it?
